i'm blushing...

about a week ago, i sent an e-mail to an old friend in hopes of bringing some closure to an issue that has been in my mental "pending" file for 20 years. i've been trying to tidy up my cranial space in the interest of 40-year old housekeeping. i didn't really expect to receive a response, and i haven't so this person is remaining true to form.

anyway, i was re-reading the sent e-mail this morning, just to touch on it one more time before hitting "delete" and flushing the unfinished business down the drain for all eternity when i noticed it...the typo.

i wanted this person to know that insights from their perspective would help me have PEACE of mind. what i typed was PIECE of mind. of course, the spell check neglected to point out that i am an IDIOT!

of course, now i want to send an addendum to the original e-mail, but am thinking that borders on the stalker-ish.

just let it lie...that's my motto--let it lie. (or is that lye?)

step away from the keyboard! restraint of tongue and pen is the best approach!

there is something to be said for the written word-i.e. pen and paper...you write and keep it over night or for days and then look back and 9 times out of ten-throw it out. I was thinking-there is also something to be said for being 50-what a difference ten years makes-you will see that it becomes easier and easier to let things go. The less time you have left, the less you want to fill it with activities you know will inevitably will be fruitless, as you knew this one would be. I would say to you, let it go, but I can fell your angst. Oh that dreadful feeling of the butt cheeks slamming together! this too shall pass...

Ha, I had to laugh out loud at this since it is soooo much like something I would do. Denise said it best, step away from the keyboard. Which I am sure you did as I am so late in reading. Also happy to hear about your good checkup last week. Woo hoo!
